Think about what actually happens in there. Your keys ride against your phone screen. Your wallet reshapes itself, and then reshapes you, every time you sit down. A pen leaks. A lip balm goes soft and then goes missing. Things fall out on car seats. And the whole arrangement shows through the fabric in a way nobody has ever described as flattering.
None of that is a disaster. It is just a low, daily tax you have stopped noticing. You pay it in scratched screens, replaced keys, wallets that wear out at the fold, and the small ritual of patting yourself down before you leave anywhere.
Then there are the days pockets fail completely. Shorts with pockets too shallow to trust. A dress or a skirt with no pockets at all. A swimsuit. Warm weather generally, when the whole point is to wear less and you still need a card, a key and a phone.
The usual answers are a bag you have to carry, remember, and set down somewhere, or a soft nylon pouch that solves the problem and looks like it solved the problem.
There is a third answer, and it is old. Put the small things in a small case, and hang the case off your belt or waistband. It rides on your hip, out of the way. It does not swing off a shoulder. You do not set it down and forget it, because it is attached to you.

A pouch is a bag with a zip. It takes the shape of whatever is inside it, and when it is empty it takes no shape at all. It is a fine thing. It is also, structurally, a sock.
A case is different in four ways that you can feel in the first week.
The body is rigid. It stays open when you open it and it stays a case when it is empty. That matters more than it sounds, because it means the contents are not pressed into your hip, and you can find a thing by feel instead of by excavation.
A flap with a magnetic closure lifts with a thumb while the other hand is holding a coffee, a leash, or a railing. A zip needs two hands and a moment of attention. Over a day that difference is the whole design.
Calfskin does not wear out so much as wear in. Nylon frays, plastic hazes and cracks, and both look worse every month. Leather picks up a patina and generally looks better at year three than at week one.
A belt loop or a belt clip means the case travels where you travel. Nothing is set down on a restaurant chair. Nothing is left in a car footwell. It is on your hip until you take it off.
